Background to project:

Act on It was a 6-week theatre project working with hard to reach 16 - 20 year olds in Camden who are homeless/ at risk of being homeless as well as not being in employment, education or training (NEET).

Purpose of project:

The aim was to engage young people between the ages of 16-19 to try out being an actor and learn some performance techniques, by creating a short play about some of their own life experiences.

Project activities:

The young people produced a forum theatre piece about their life circumstances which was performed.

Project results:

All the youth involved have learned drama and theatre production skills as well as other, general social skills related to employability – such as working as part of a team, respecting others, and time management.

The resulting piece of dramaturgy was an exciting meditation of the lives of the participants and their peers in similar positions on the fringes of society.
