Background to project:The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea have been working with local tenants? and residents? associations to introduce a new 'Gold Standard' award scheme that recognises and encourages well run and representative associations.Purpose of project:The Gold Standard scheme aims to acknowledge the key role that associations have in conveying the views of residents to the Council and other service providers in the Borough.Project activities:As part of the scheme to encourage wider participation resources were provided to help residents set up their own group. This includes a model constitution and a booklet called ?A guide to setting up a residents" group.Associations go through the process of applying for the Gold Standard and when successful receive a certificate and financial reward from the Council. Volunteers are supported by the dedicated Community Engagement Team when applying for the award. Project results:Associations that achieve the standard will be able to access benefits that include a financial incentive and opportunities to talk directly to decision makers in the borough.Contact details:Stephen Morgan Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Community Engagement Team (CET) 2-4 Malton Road London W10 5UP stephen.morgan@rbkc.gov.uk 020 7854 5852 |
