Background to project:

The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, instigated the Environment Roundtable to come up with national direction on environemental issues.

Purpose of project:

To mobilise the public and stakeholders to inform the key national environmental issues.
.

Project activities:

Six working groups made up of key stakeholders that each focussed on key issues such as climate change, sustainable consumption, biodivresity etc.
.
The results were put to public consultation both online and through many regional workshops and events.
.
These were fed back into the final decision-making of the Environment Round Table.
.

Project results:

"During these four months, any tendencies toward posturing or maintaining conservative attitudes were overridden by the fervent determination to make progress together.
