Background to project:

World Wide Views on Global Warming (WWV) was an international deliberative process involving over 4,400 people from 38 countries. The project was coordinated by the Danish Board of Technology, with NGO?s and charities facilitating the national events.
.

Purpose of project:

The purpose was to enable citizens worldwide to define and communicate their positions on climate change and to influence policy-makers ahead of the COP15 climate talks in Copenhagen.
.

Project activities:

Participating countries all held deliberative forums on the same day. National partner organisations helped facilitate these events in which participants discussed and voted on issues regarding climate change. Each forum consisted of around 100 citizens who roughly reflected the demographics of their country.
.
The forums were structured along themes that led to on-the-spot votes on a certain questions. These questions were identical in all participating countries to ensure that the results were internationally comparable. The results were fed back live via a central website to provide instant access to all.
.
