Involve and the Scout Association are hosting and running an exciting series of deliberative events at this year's party conferences. On each of the conference Sundays, we will be bringing together local scouts, politicians, policy-makers and others involved in framing and delivering public policy to focus on four crucial issues facing young people.

The purpose of the events are to empower young people to speak out on the topics of knife crime, playing outdoors as a means to combat childhood obesity, youth participation in politics and young people volunteering.

The innovative format for these events will see Ministers, MPs and others drop in to the sessions and play a part in facilitating the discussions with local scouts. We are also letting loose the potential of technology to contribute to these debates by interacting and engaging with scouts across the UK before, during and after the events.

The details are as follows:

Liberal Democrat Conference: 14 September 2008, Bournemouth
The Trouville Hotel, 12.30pm - 2pm

Labour Conference: 21 September 2008, Manchester
The Palace Hotel, 12.30pm - 2.30pm

Conservative Conference: 28 September 2008, Birmingham
The Novotel, 12pm- 2pm

If you would like to come along to any of these events, please get in touch with us at dominic[at]involve.org.uk or stella[at]involve.org.uk
