Feedback

People & Participation Online is not just a site about the theory of participation.

We aim to practice what we preach and therefore we have designed this site to allow site users maximum input to the site.

We would really like to hear what you think of the site and its content. To avoid any spam comments we would like to ask you to register or log in to the People & Participation Online.
If you have any problems using the site, or want to comment on an unsuitable post please contact the webmaster Dominic Potter directly on 020 7 632 0122 or dominic@involve.org.uk.

May we have a pdf version of the "What characterises good participation?" page?

Mikka - thanks for getting in touch. We have added a PDF version of that page.

Characteristics of good participation

Mikka -I'm pleased to say that PDF versions are now available for all methods and case studies. Hope this is useful

What an excellent web site!  I have been involved in participation / involvement work for a while now and have slavishly scoured the net on a regular basis for articles about the theory, the practice and the theory in practice.  Now, here is a chance to have everything in the one place.  I hope it grows and grows!

I would encourage people to contribute their own case studies.  So much laudable participation work goes unappreciated and quietly drifts off into history, leaving no markers for learning to pass on to others.  I hope this website can contribute to a lively, non competitive and exciting debate about the truly fascinating subject of participation.

Thank you!

Thanks for your kind words Jo.

I've been really pleased with how the site has been received. We now have 170 registered users and that number is growing daily. Please keep posting your feedback, both positive and negative, so that we can grow and improve the site together!

Can I suggest adding a key word / label to the Participation Library for "older people", and including in the Library the new Policy Studies Institute / Better Government for Older People document " Beyond the Tick Box"

Regards to all

Thanks for the great suggestion. I've added the resource myself. However when you register on the site you can upload resources like this yourself and add new key words where necessary. I'd encourage everyone to use the upload function whenever you come across something that is missing.

Great work! It's clear that your new site is the result of monumental effort, including weeks/months of dialogue and meticulous deliberation. There's some irony here insofar as the site is elegantly simple, uncluttered and airy, supremely easy to navigate, yet rich in content. Wow!

I'm the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Berwick, Nova Scotia, Canada (pop 2500). Certainly, I'd be running well into my retirement before I'd ever finish testing each method in your comprehensive list.

It might be tricky, but might you give thought to incorporating a blog? That would give subscribers (I use Google Reader) instant updates on your news, announcements, editorial opinion and so forth. Or, maybe I've overlooked it!

Kudos! Were there a medal of merit for promoting public participation in cyberspace, you'd deserve it already.

Precocious!

 Appreciatively,

Bob

Whoops! I did miss the blog! Right there in my face, too. Now it's red!

Well, the blog feature was my one and only suggestion, and the fact that you've done it, shows me to be stumpy and you to be sterling!

Great site!

Dear Bob,

Thank you very much for your kind words!

We will hopefully fairly soon offer the possibility to subscribe to any changes on the page via RSS (email is under consideration as well).

Please feel free to spread the word about this site and contribute any case studies or resources you would like to share with others.

Best,

Chris

Hello

I've noticed that the link (below) for the Save the Children DIY guide under Recommended Practical guides is broken.

DIY Guide to improving your community http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/scuk_cache/scuk/cache/cmsattach/4130_DIY.pdf

The correct link:
http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/en/docs/diy-toolkit.pdf

The site is excellent btw.

James,

Thanks for pointing this out to us. Links come and go and we really appreciate that you tell us when we need to update.

But in fact you don't have to wait for us to get round to it. All registered users have permissions to change resource and case study pages which means that you can update faulty links yourself simply by clicking on the 'edit' button to the right of the screen.

I'm glad you like the site.

Edward
